What is better than watching a robotic drum machine play? Playing a robotic drum machine on your own! We just now finished a wunderful
video about the “MR-808 Interaktive” – a drum robot that is programmed in a collaborative process by the audience. The video was shoot last year at the Krake Festival Berlin, the installation can be seen at the Amsterdam Dance Event, and at the Berlin Maker fair this October 2016. Be sure to check out more dates here
Additionally we sat down for a few days and wrote an extensive buildlog. You can find it here at our learning plattform
Kudos to @davidcampesino for the video shooting, Jakob for the video cutting and Karsten, Martin, Dr. Nick, Gero, Mirko for constant support and love.
Mouse on Mars, Sonic Robots & Ensemble Musikfabrik rehearse “De Umbris Idearum” for the CO-POP in Cologne, 2016. http://c-o-pop.de/festival/artist/mou…
For their 2016 EP “Lichter” Mouse On Mars asked us to use some of our robots. Nothing easier than this! We had some universal robotic actuators laying around which we customized according to their wishes.
The 15-minute EP which you can now hear and buy is a wonderful mix of dubby organic synth, percussion and robotic organic drums (puhh, so much organic everywhere!). The robotics is natural, still precise; one can hear the robots escpecially good at the live HiHat parts. MOM recorded everything in a huge jam, this was cut, taken apart and put together again with their special secret sauce in MOM’s magic studio in Berlin.
What we like is the idea to have universal (more…)
Our friends from Gamut inc did a wonderful job curating the “Wir sind die Roboter Festival” which will make history as the first German festival dedicated solely to robotic music! It features high-class artists such as the godfathers of robotic music: Logos Foundation and Pierre Bastien as well as Hacklander, Marcus Schmickler or Nicolas Bernier, and of course us and gamut themselves. We are very thrilled about this delicate event which will take in October in Berlin at the Musikbrauerei
Gamut Inc & N.K. Projekt present a three-day festival on the topic of music- robots and machine-music. In concerts, lectures and different discourse formats, we will present many international ensembles from Europe and beyond that build their own autonomously playing music-machines. We will interpret classics of the 20th century on music-machines and also invite composers to write new music for these wild machine-inventions.
